Statment on the killing of Natalia Estemirova

Natalia EstemirovaThe Basque pro independence left would like to express its profound indignation following the killing of Natalia Estemirova.
Few months ago we denounce the assesination of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova.
Stanislav Markelov was a prominent lawyer who was defending human rights in Chechnya and a few years ago members of the Basque pro independence left had the opportunity to meet him. We knew from him the massive violations of human rights in the Russian Federation and we could as well explain the lack of rights in the Basque Country.

For almost ten years Natalia Estemirova was the leading activist of HRC Memorial in the North Caucasus, in Chechnya. She did not only collect information about violations of human rights. She was a true human rights activist standing for common people. She was coldly killed by Chechen
pro-Putin pupet Kadirov criminal forces.
We call the international comunity to stop silencing the criminal activity Russia is promoting in ocuppied Chechnia and other Caucuasus regions and to defend the freedom of speech and basic political and civil rights.
Finally, the Basque pro independence left would like to express its condolences to the relatives of NAtalia Estemirova, her friends  Chechen citizens and all Russian progressive forces in those sad moments.
Our solidarity to all of them and our total support to keep on defending civil and political rights in the Russian federation and in ocuppied Chechnia.
