Five years ago today, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued its Advisory Opinion on the "Legal Consequences of the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory". In its Advisory Opinion, the ICJ found that the Israeli construction of the Wall within the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), including in and around East Jerusalem, violated Israel's obligations under international law. The ICJ stated that Israel is under an obligation to cease the works of construction of the Wall within the OPT and bring down the parts within the OPT that had already been built. The ICJ also stated that the Israeli Government should terminate the associated system of severe restrictions on the freedom of movement of Palestinian residents of the West Bank, which violates their human rights. The High Commissioner calls on Israel to act in accordance with the Advisory Opinion of the ICJ.

We do not accept the content the judgement of the (seven-judge) Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on the appeal presented by Batasuna with regard to its banning by the Spanish State, as well as the banning of candidates and lists for the local and European elections.

In political terms, it does not contribute anything to the political settlement of the Basque conflict, but just the opposite. We believe that it is a clear step backwards for fundamental rights and freedoms in the European framework which can affect other progressive organisations in the future if they raise questions about the legal framework of the states in which they act.

Ekainak 27an, Green Brigadek, Glasgow Celtic taldearen supporter taldeak, arrazakeriaren aurkako nazioarteko futbol txapelketa bat antolatu zuen Glasgown, Eskozian. 14 taldek parte hartu zuten: Celtic supporter talde batzuk, Afrikar errefuxiatu talde batzuk: Kamerun, Sudan, Zinbabwe besteak beste, errefuxiatuen aldeko talde batzuk, Eskoziako nesken ligako talde txapelduna , eta Euskal Herria. Askapena -Organizzazione Internazionalista Basca- con questo comunicato vuole esprimere tutta la sua solidarietá ai 21 militanti arrestati in seguito all’ondata repressiva dello stato italiano di cui i movimenti politici e sociali sono stati vittime. La vicinanza di questi arresti con l’inizio del G8 dimostra il carattere assolutamente arbitrario e preventivo di queste azioni repressive.
Ancora una volta gli Stati europei continuano a mettere in moto i loro apparati repressivi nei confronti dei movimenti antagonisti, facendo un uso della giustizia puramente politico e negando, in questo modo, alcuni dei diritti fondamentali delle persone, come il diritto alla dissidenza, all’espressione di parola e all’autorganizzazione.
